Believe In Each Other
And behold, a lawyer stood up to put him to the test, saying, “Teacher, what shall I do to inherit eternal life?” He said to him, “What is written in the Law? How do you read it?” And he answered, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind, and your neighbor as yourself.” And he said to him, “You have answered correctly; do this, and you will live.”
But he, desiring to justify himself, said to Jesus, “And who is my neighbor?” Jesus replied, “A man was going down from Jerusalem to Jericho, and he fell among robbers, who stripped him and beat him and departed, leaving him half dead. Now by chance a priest was going down that road, and when he saw him he passed by on the other side. So likewise a Levite, when he came to the place and saw him, passed by on the other side. But a Samaritan, as he journeyed, came to where he was, and when he saw him, he had compassion. He went to him and bound up his wounds, pouring on oil and wine. Then he set him on his own animal and brought him to an inn and took care of him. F.A.L.E.
The Restoration Food and Life Essentials Program are focused on God and honoring His will by serving community members who require assistance with food products and additional products in their homes for their families. Our program exists due to congregants and members of our community’s willingness to share the F.A.L.E programs info via word of mouth, networking within personal social media accounts, door tags, social media platforms the church uses, and mentions during other streaming programs as well as during in-person services.
Currently, the F.A.L.E. Program distributes to multiple rent-regulated senior adult apartment complexes in Riverhead. We also willingly provide help on an on-call basis to any other community member or visitor in need. Our program worked during the pandemic period in 2020 and is still in the downtown Riverhead area helping multiple families in need of food and life essentials. Recalling how FALE served so many during such a difficult time reminds us how God provides exactly what everyone needs, despite the situation at hand, when it is needed.
Our program is a community-based network as we are community members helping community members. Our goods are supplied mostly by our congregation, but we are blessed also to be supported by those outside the church with monetary contributions. These assist us to purchase fresh produce necessary such as milk, eggs, and bread. These items and more are assembled into grocery bags by our team of volunteers on Fridays and Saturday mornings, the team visits the areas in need and provides them with both the goods they have requested and prayer for their families to remain in God’s loving care.
The focus of the Food and Life essentials Program is aligned with God’s focus, people. We are called to bless the great people of our community. Therefore prayer, both before visiting our friends and with our friends while delivering is of importance. Many programs assist those in need, but overall, what do people truly need in their lives, and what would describe someone as blessed? Indeed, the blessing of food and life essentials is what is imperative to those whose welfare might be in jeopardy, but knowing and seeing that what was needed came from God, opens hearts and minds that the promise that God made, to be our provided continues to be kept and what we must do on our end is simply believe, and in this case receive. God has a blessing in store for all, but our hearts must be receptive to accept what He wants to Give. We believe here at restoration that our little program is doing just that – opening hearts for our neighbors in need to BELIEVE. Thank you and God bless.
